What I’m about to unleash today was not even considered during my two years at RMIT or at any MBA management school.
These are hands-on tips and real-life experiences, not those of online gurus who have nothing to show for themselves, mainly intellectuals without knowledge of real-world situations. And that’s worse than useless.
That being said, let’s get started.
Lest I forget…
Every community I’ve established has an awful story embedded within it. And... yes, if you click the links below, please return to our adventure.
(Meta Communities), just to name a few, are not an exception to the assertion above.
How I truly created the communities: ‘‘WE ARE IN NOW!’’
Initially, I aimed to create a unique community distinct from the norm. I established #Snugle DC with the hope of achieving that objective swiftly. However, Snugle has experienced slightly stunted growth, which is common for new communities.
I wasn’t worried. Until something happened that challenged my comfort trajectory and prompted a heightened concern on my part.
You may not understand what it takes to build an online community of raving fans until you’ve built one yourself.
Despite my efforts to find gigs, I encountered obstacles in locating one promptly. In response, I took proactive steps to create my own, now providing me with access to a vast array of opportunities across the globe. Doesn’t this seem interesting?
Without traffic that you can genuinely control, one is doomed in this second digital renaissance.
I wake up and I see my clients lined up for approvals.
Transition into the digital realm or face obsolescence; there exists no middle ground, unfortunately. Although the journey has been a roller coaster ride of challenges and achievements, each contributes to a progressively forward-moving narrative.
If one could build a community, one would be able to recover more quickly from heartbreak. Every Lesson reinforces the progress of the other and the time it took to build another.
If Mr. Mark Z. decides to compensate creators tomorrow as per the Meta communities, it would be a completely passive income with AdSense and more.
I’m not teaching basic economics, but you can get rewarded for strategic positioning.
The moon does this practically every day. It has no light of its own (Geography 101).
Knowledge is fleeting! Isn’t it? …Yes, of course.
Now, for real, while developing my understanding of community formation and growth, I took a peek at a freshly formed community. I wouldn’t mention the name.
In short, the algorithm or God himself pushed it to me, maybe as a way of helping a struggling son. And I witnessed something that impacted my actions. I said, okay… Allow me to implement this as quickly as possible and see what happens next…
Yes, I implemented the changes without hesitation. And boom💥, the community took off and skyrocketed! 🚀💥
I’ll tell you how; please allow me a sec.
Awareness was pretty much the cure.
Fortunately, enough, what I copied as an artist was a truer story from an “old community" of someone’s, which made ours’ “the new” a more viable approach.
If that wasn’t clear enough, please carry on. You’ll be fine along the way.
THE TWEAK THAT TRIUMPHED!
I said to myself, okay, I’ve got to rewrite my entire description exactly as the owner did in the descriptive section of her community. Her’s was swelling exponentially with members and organically.
I was slightly envious of her pacing, to be honest. To make sense of her, I even glanced at her DP.
After a while, I deployed “a dual flanked attack.”
I took my time copying and pasting everything the lady did. And exactly as she did it. But in a stylish way, which was a missing ingredient in her’s.
And then I wrote them in “BOLD LETTERS.” I also incorporated the Australian flag. It became incredibly gorgeous, with eye-catching colours and powerful DPs.
Truly, I tell you, my friends, community building may be demanding and unpleasant at times. Nevertheless, the best way to cure anxieties is to stop worrying so much about it.
DO THESE FIVE IMPORTANT THINGS TO RESOLVE WORRIES AS THEY ARISE.
At some point, worries will arise—imposter syndrome, as they call it. However, when they do, follow these five powerful practices to overcome them.
1. Build more communities across various niches. You can always rename them thereafter.
2. Invite your relatives and friends to join.
3. Create additional accounts using your name, your kids’ names, pets, or significant other. (People attract people.)
4. If someone leaves your community, use this problem-focused coping mechanism by labelling the person as a chronic spammer or not a legitimate member.
5. Create beautiful things, join related communities, and be slightly active or contribute when feasible. (Beware of spamming to avoid frequent account reporting.)
The good news is that once you hit 250-500 members, Mark Zuckerberg himself will begin knocking on your door, congratulating you on a job well done and an influx in membership as a reward.
AVOID THESE 5 TRAPS OF MEDIOCRITY AT ALL COSTS.
Be mindful about building on another person’s land.
1. Set up a mailing platform and share your knowledge—many others are facing the same challenges.
2. If you're an entrepreneur (as we all are), solve a problem by selling the solution. (See Snugle’s story at...)
3. People will come in only to throw stones at you. And that’s okay.
“REMAIN CALM AND USE THE BLOCK/BAN BUTTON MORE OFTEN. AFTER ALL, NO ONE KICKS A DEAD DOG.”
4. Keep an open mind and learn more in this enormous ecosystem.
5. Exercise patience and be persistent, as those are the lost keys.
Towards this end, I have the feeling that this comment by my friend Naval will come true someday.
Learn to sell. Learn to build. If you can do both, you will be unstoppable. – Naval
